There are innumerable parallels between what it takes to be successful both in real life and on the playing field. The qualities of determination, skill, and hard work contribute to anyone's chance of winning in both arenas. There is a parallel between life and sports that doesn’t get enough attention, however and that’s the connection between an individuals’s character off the field and their good sportsmanship on it.Good sportsmanship encompasses many aspects of any person’s character, the most fundamental being respect. The good sportsman respects both his teammates and his opponents as equals. They plays with integrity.
We believe coaching is the partnership between a player and a Coach that moves rapidly towards inner transformation because of the individualised relationship. The engagement requires both sides to reach a mutually agreed destination/decision. The aim of the coaching is to bring about sustained behavioural change and transform the quality of the leader’s working and personal life. Leadership management involves a person to move from being a manager to a respected leader who leaves a legacy behind.
A sportsperson needs to be in good shape throughout the year, not only to make sure of availability for the next game but also to make up their mind and body for everyday challenges. A day with the right amount of exercise (including practice sessions) and a balanced diet concludes into a healthy mind as well as body. Doing this regularly would add up to coin the term fitness.
The best coaches… know that the job is to win… know that they must be decisive, that they must phase people through their organizations, and at the same time they are sensitive to the feelings, loyalties, and emotions that people have toward one another.
If you don’t have these feelings, I do not know how you can lead anyone. I have spent many sleepless nights trying to figure out how I was going to phase out certain players for whom I had strong feelings, but that was my job. I wasn’t hired to do anything but win.
If you are worried about what someone is saying about you- those words will take away from you what you are setting forth to accomplish in preparing for and trying to make the team or trying to make a certain spot. My advice is to have confidence and believe in yourself!
I think that the good and the great are only separated by the willingness to sacrifice.
It doesn't matter what your background is and where you come from, if you have dreams and goals, that's all that matters.
Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.
I’ve never aspired to be a leader. I have only focused on doing things that I felt were important.
